At our house it seemed pretty hopeless…

 

  • Family 2006With both of us working, we were exhausted at dinner time.

 

  • Our kids were picky eaters. Even as teens they were eating off the kid menu when we ate out.

 

  • We ate out A LOT. We were always on the go. In fact, at one point we realized we were eating out 3 or 4 times a week.

 

  • We didn’t like vegetables. We always tried to slap a vegetable on the dinner table (broccoli, asparagus or carrots), but we were lucky if anyone ate more than a couple bites. We were a LONG way from the recommended 5+ servings of vegetables/day. How do you eat vegetables when you don’t like them?

 

  • Our dinner repertoire was limited to about ten things and we were so sick of all of them. I mean, how many different ways can you eat chicken?

 

  • Then, to top it off our daughter decided she was vegetarian. Great, now what? She didn’t eat vegetables! What would she eat? Where would she get her protein?

 

That’s where our journey to makeover our family eating habits began several years ago.

Today, things have completely changed at our house.

  • We now eat 90% of our meals at home.

 

  • Our daughters eat more vegetables at breakfast than most Americans eat all day.

 

  • Even at 16 and 20, they make a point of being home for dinner every night.

 

  • TK and I are in the best shape of our lives.

 

  • We have so much energy & we rarely get sick.

 

  • Most importantly, we have become even closer as a family.

We made a commitment to making small changes, one at a time and it all started with dinner:
